Biography

Mr. David Clifton Haney, age 72 of Rockmart passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2009.

Mr. Haney was born on June 21, 1937 in Polk County, son of the late Odis Haney and the late Mary Beatty Haney. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Sugar Creek Baptist Church of Princeton, Kentucky. Mr. Haney served in the United States Navy and was a past member of the Rockmart Masonic Lodge #97 F. & A.M. He was preceded in death by a son, Mr. David Neal Haney, Sr. and a brother, Mr. Jimmy Michael Haney.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Kathryn Patterson Haney of Rockmart; two daughters, Laura Lynn Haddock and Wanda Diane Bowers both of Rockmart; four sons, Gregory Warren Haney, Michael Scott Haney and Jonathan Reid Haney all of Rockmart and Jason Clifton Haney of Cedartown; three sisters, Evelyn Bailey of Rockmart, Violet Stegall of Macon and Alice Williams of Aragon; and a brother, Scott Haney of Rockmart. Fifteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Haney will be held on Wednesday, October 28th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Weaver officiating. Interment services will follow in the family lot of the Taylorsville Cemetery.

The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers: Thomas Bettis, Shawn Haney, Benjamin Haddock, Trae Reed, John Norman and Samuel Haney.

The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as honorary pallbearers: Joseph Kirk and Bobby Carlton.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, October 27th between the hours of 7 and 9 p.m.
