Biography

Mr. Eugene "Gene" Cummings, age 79 of Rockmart passed away on Friday, February 5, 2010.

Mr. Cummings was born on Septmeber 28, 1930 in Gloster, MS, son of the late Luther Cummings and Ethel Wall Cummings. He was a maintenance supervisor for Southwire with thirty years of service. Mr. Cummings was of the Church of God of Prophecy faith. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean conflict. Mr. Cummings was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Viola Rollinson; and three brothers, Mr. James Cummings, Mr. Sam Cummings and Mr. Raleigh Cummings.

Survivors include his wife, Billie Head Cummings to whom he married October 5, 1976; a daughter, Dale McLain and husband William of Carrollton; two step-daughters, Amelia Hester of Rockmart and Cecilia Daniel of Yorkville; two sons, Robert Cummings and wife Patricia of Breman and Kevin Cummings and wife Natasha Cummings of Cedartown; and three brothers, Raleigh Cummings, Sam Cummings and Daniel Cummings of Memphis,TN. Seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral graveside and interment services for Mr. Cummings will be held on Sunday, February 7th at 2:00 p.m. in the family lot of New Prospect Church Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Cason officiating.

The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers: Tommy Shaw, Bobby Cason, Allen Clark, Jason McLain, Dreagon Gilley, Anthony Curtis and Phillip Zuker.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening, February 6th between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m.
