Mr. Doyle Edward Fitzpatrick

December 15, 1935 - July 19, 2016

Mr. Doyle Edward Fitzpatrick, age 80 of Flat Rock, Alabama formerly of Rockmart passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016. Mr. Fitzpatrick was born December 15, 1935 in Floyd County, son of the late Thomas Fitzpatrick and the late Annie Lou Young Fitzpatrick. He was a member of the Live Oak Baptist Church and retired from the General Motors Corporation with 30 years of service. He loved to fish at Lake Weiss and enjoyed Braves baseball. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Scoggins Fitzpatrick on May 24, 2003; son-in-law, James Paul Scannapieco; and six siblings. Survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Jean Fitzpatrick Scannapieco and her fiancé Ewing "Sonny" Battles, IV of Flat Rock, AL; son, Dennis Edwin Fitzpatrick and his wife Kathy of Rising Fawn, GA; three grandchildren, Chris Fitzpatrick, Brian Fitzpatrick and Ana Norris; and six great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Fitzpatrick will be held on Friday, July 22nd at 6:00 p.m. in the Live Oak Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Womack officiating. Interment services will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Fitzpatrick will lie in state at the church on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Chris Fitzpatrick, Brian Fitzpatrick, Cole Fitzpatrick, Vince Norris, Donnie Holder and Robbin Arp. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, July 21st between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Freeman Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral services for Mr. Doyle Edward Fitzpatrick.
