In the early morning hours of August 1, 2019, Howard Wayne Hembree met his Savior at his daughter’s residence in Armuchee. Mr. Hembree was born August 15, 1937 in Paulding County, son of the late Rev. Clarence Hembree and the late Mae Gentry Hembree. He grew up in the Taylorsville area and was a 1955 graduate of Taylorsville High School. Mr. Hembree was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Hills Creek Baptist Church. He worked for several years at the Marquette Cement Plant until it closed and went on to retire from Shaw Industries in 1998. Wayne loved his Savior, animals and gardening, as well as meeting new people. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Patricia Anne Hembree; a brother, Rev. David Hembree; and a brother-in-law, Richard D. Hindmon, Sr. Survivors include the love of his life, Linda Hindmon Hembree of Rockmart to whom he was married January 8, 1965; four children, Melissa Flores and Cynthia Victoria both of Cedartown, Michael (Melissa) Hembree of Aragon and Stacie (Jeff) Buffington of Armuchee; seven brothers and sisters, Rosetta (Rudy) Hindmon, James (Brenda) Hembree, George (Jackie) Hembree, Johnny (Jennie) Hembree, Cathrine (Charles) Wigley, Edward (Suzette) Hembree and Clarence (Angie) Hembree; two sisters-in-law, Irma (Gerald) McPhereson, and Betty Hindmon; thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Hembree will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Hills Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Owen (Bud) Davis, Jr. and Rev. Todd Tibbetts officiating. Interment services will follow in the family lot of the church cemetery with American Legion Brown-Wright Post 12 Honor Guard in charge of military graveside rites. Mr. Hembree will lie in state at the church on Sunday prior to the service from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Chris Hindmon, Kevin Wigley, Shane Hembree, Doug Hindmon, Daniel Hembree, Kenneth McCarty and Timmy Gentry. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, August 3, 2019 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Freeman Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral service for Mr. Howard Wayne Hembree.
