Mr. Richard Eugene “Gene” Parham, Sr. age 85 of Cedartown passed away Monday, January 28, 2019. Mr. Parham was born October 31, 1933 in Van Wert, son of the late Luther V. Parham and the late Ruby Zelma Allgood Parham. He was a 1952 graduate of Rockmart High School and was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Parham was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He retired from both Marquette Cement Company with 31 years of service and Georgia Power having worked at Plant Bowen for 11 years. He enjoyed fishing and loved his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Imogene Stegall; and brother, Hubert Parham. Survivors include his wife, Eloise Collins Parham of Cedartown to whom he was married March 17, 1990; two daughters, Darlene Parham Gentry and her husband Jimmy of Armuchee and Terry Parham Davitte and her husband Steven of Irmo, South Carolina; son, Richard E. “Ricky” Parham, Jr. and his wife Tami of Cedartown; brother, Jerome Parham and his wife Arnette; six grandchildren, Campbell Parham, Alyssa Parham, Stev Davitte and his wife Meredith, Jarrett Davitte, Grant Davitte and Taylor Atkison and her husband Adam; three great-grandchildren, Sully Davitte, Avery Atkison and Cooper Atkison. Funeral services for Mr. Parham will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Snapp officiating. A eulogy will be given by his daughter, Darlene Gentry. Interment services will follow in the family lot of Polk Memory Gardens with American Legion Brown-Wright Post 12 Honor Guard in charge of military graveside rites. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Stev Davitte, Jarrett Davitte, Grant Davitte, Adam Atkison, William Bowman and David Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dennis Graham, Steve Manning, Dan Lester, Euzeal Jones and Lester Rowland. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday prior to the service from 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Georgia Chapter, 922 E. Morris St., Dalton, GA 30721 or to Heyman Hospice, 420 E. Second St., Rome, GA 30161 in memory of Mr. Parham.
