Mr. Richard F. Garner, Sr.

April 3, 1943 - December 9, 2014

Mr. Richard Franklin Garner, Sr. age 71 of Cedartown, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Mr. Garner was born on April 3, 1943 in Cedartown, son of the late Jack Garner and the late Jane Tillery Garner. He retired with many years of service from Anheuser-Busch as a truck driver and was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Richard loved being outdoors, driving his tractor and crafting items from wood. He also loved going to church. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Garner, Jr.; his daughter, Catherine “Christine” York; brother, Jim Beecham and sister, Hazel Morrow. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Ruth Stubbs Garner to whom he was married on March 17, 1962; his sons, Jimmy Garner of Aragon, Jack Garner and Joey Garner both of Cedartown; his sisters, Judy Hamilton and Carolyn Ingram both of Cleveland, Tennessee; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Garner will be held on Thursday, December 11th at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Snapp and Rev. Joey Davidson officiating. Interment services will follow in the family lot of the New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Jimmy Garner, Joey Garner, Jack Garner, Chris Baker and John Garner. The family will receive friends at Freeman Harris Funeral Home on Thursday, December 11th between the hours of 12:00 and 1:30 p.m. Freeman Harris Funeral Home is in charge of the funeral arrangements for Mr. Richard Franklin Garner, Sr.
